How much should a typical miniature Siberian Husky puppy cost?

Thanks.. There are such dogs. They are not yet classified as a different breed. They are still considered Siberian Husky pups. I've already asked the AKC by phone. Thanks
No, there is ONE scam artist on the east coast who breeds Siberians for small size, to the exclusion of all else. Someone else posted their web address already — the Mini Huskies people are crap breeders, breeding inferior dogs. Like anyone who breeds for a single trait and ignores the others, their dogs may be small, but they are also unsound, unhealthy, and only vaguely resemble Siberian huskies. If you spoke to the AKC at all, they probably wondered why you would call them about sub-standard Siberian huskies, which — despite their poor breeding — would still be considered Siberian huskies if they were AKC registered. So of course they would tell you they exist. There are abnormally small examples of every breed, just as there are abnormally large ones. But no ETHICAL breeder selects for these traits. Anyone claiming to have "Miniature Siberian huskies" is unethical, and you are throwing your money away. If you *must* have a small dog resembling the Siberian, consider the Klee Kai.

No such thing so more the price would be more than it should for a normal sized properly bred husky

I'm sure you mean an Alaskan Klee Kai. I would imagine it cost at least $2,000 and a long waiting list.

Edit: All of you are wrong, there is such a thing.

There is no such thing as a miniature husky, and anyone telling you there is only wants to part you from your money.

ADDED: No, it is NOT a 'miniature husky'. It is s substandard, non-conforming, poorly bred husky.

There is a form of dwarfism in this breed, but it would not be a desirable quality to breed. I am guessing you are buying from what is actually a puppy mill – see this – http://stoppuppymills.org/

Do your breed research, and if you want a husky or malamute (both are a lot of work btw, not easy dogs at all, and not for inexperienced owners) look in rescues, there are so many that need homes.

Don't breed and buy whilst unwanted dogs die.

There's no such thing as a Mini Husky. Whoever is trying to sell you one is ripping you off for a runt. Check the breed standard, make sure the puppy you buy conforms [or will conform] to the standard when it grows up. Be wary of any "breeder" who tries to sell you any miniature/toy breed. If it's not a registered breed, it's either a mutt, a runt, or both.

There is no such a thing as a "toy" or "miniature" Siberian Husky. STAY AWAY from any "breeder" selling these undersized, overpriced, sickly runts. Only backyard breeders and puppy millers breed them; when a undersized dog is born in a responsibly bred litter is sold on a spay/neuter contact.

This information applies to all breeds:

Here's where you can get a normal, happy, healthy dog:

Your local animal shelters http://www.dogsindanger.com http://www.petfinder.org/ has MANY Siberian Huskies, mixes and Husky-type dogs in need of homes. Not all of these dogs are in safe breed rescues and no kills. http://www.petharbor.com http://www.1-800-pet-rescue.com http://www.1888pets911.org/ http://www.siberianrescue.com/ http://www.shca.org/ has breed info, breed rescue and responsible breeder referrals http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q=siberian+husky+rescue&spell=1 http://www.shibas.org/ This is the website for the Shiba Inu, THE closest thing you can get to a husky, but in a smaller package, while still being a purebred, (extremely) healthy dog. The only health problem my Shiba has is seasonal allergies. This site provides information on this breed, as well as breed rescue and responsible breeder referrals. http://national.shibarescue.org/ for further breed rescue information

If you are interested in a dog but live too far away from it, there is the option of having one transported closer to you/nearer to you. Google "dog rescue transportation."

Its not a Mini Sibe. Its an Alaskan Klee Klai. http://www.alaskankleekai.com/ If you are talking about just a smaller Sibe. Its not called a Mini, its called a RUNT. From a BYB ( anyone who is claiming to sell 'mini sibes' ) they can cost anywhere between $300-$4,000 ( sometimes more! )

From the Shelter ( Anyone who is claiming that it is either an alaskan Klee Kai or a runty husky ) Anywhere between $50-100.

From a Reputable breeder ( anyone who is selling pure bred Alaskan Klee Kai and is a reputable breeder. Or a Reputable breeder who is selling a pup that is just runty ) anywhere between $200-500 for a runty husky and anywhere between $500-1,000 if an Alaskan Klee Kai.

    GOOD LUCK! HOPE THIS HELPED!

There is no such breed as a "mini husky".. I dont beleive that AKC told you this either, as AKC does not promote breeding mixes.

You may be thinking of an Alaskan Klee Klai.. they are similar to the husky in appearance and are small dogs. They are an established purebred, although not yet recognized by the AKC, they are recognized by other registries, such as the UKC.

They are not very common here in the US.. I would expect to pay at least $1,000 to obtain a pet-quality one.
